Ciappine
They are flat biscuits made from wheat flour, yeast and olive oil. They originate from Liguria, at the time when the invading Turkish were forcing our ancestors to experience long periods of famine. As necessity is the mother of invention, our ancestors created this type of dry but fragrant bread that they cooked slowly for a long time on flat stones and which had a long shelf-life.
